Canon Route + Final Story [UPDATED] | Shadow the Hedgehog

Since then I've changed my mind a few times, and 300 playthroughts later I have eventually landed on the canon route being "153: Together with Maria..."

Obviously a canonical route wasn't really intended for this game, but if I had to choose one, this would be it. I've also decided to turn off the texture mods I was using in the original video (aside from the one that fixes Maria's eyes) to make this a proper way to experience it.

Route 153 sees Shadow work alone through Westopolis and Glyphic Canyon, but take the Dark route once reaching Prison Island as he regains his memories of being captured by GUN. Though once he meets Maria in The Doom, he helps her instead, remembering his promise to her. However once he remembers the GUN soldiers killing Maria, he takes down the Heavy Dog.

In Iron Jungle, Shadow learns about the Shadow Androids, and works with Omega to take down the Egg Balloon and get some answers from Eggman. This leads to his first confrontation with Commander Tower before Cosmic Fall, where he decides that "If what [Commander Tower says] is true, then I will respectfully accept my fate."

He then takes the Dark Mission, which despite including Doom Eye as the accompanying character, is just Shadow getting the Chaos Emerald instead of helping Vector, who can find his own way to the computer room. He is still unsure about Black Doom, but is either collecting the emeralds for himself to confront Black Doom, or planning on giving them to him to find out the truth.
He then defeats Eggman, but instead of killing him, banishes him from the ARK. This then leads into the Final Story.

Going with Route 153 does mean you have to ignore Cream's dialogue in Expert Mode about rescuing her, but seeing as Expert Mode is only partially canon at best (ie. Commander Tower's grandchild may be canon, but Maria, Gerald, and Black Doom cheering on Shadow during his training is not), and the fact that Shadow could have potentially rescued Cream in a different situation between the game events and Expert Mode, I think it's safe to ignore it.
