Drone Flight Above Goodrington - Oct 2022

Описание: I didn't plan on making a video today, as my main purpose was to take my good friend Stan out for the afternoon. But as I had the footage, I threw this together anyway.

Stan's year of birth is 1924 - You can work out yourself what that means in chronological terms. He's in remarkable condition, and his brain is as sharp as a tack. Stan used to own a home on the headland, so we did a quick circuit of that too, just for old times' sake.

The video provides a good comparison against my last flight here. Back then, the heatwave had reduced the grass to beige slabs of dried stalks poking through red soil, and the whole area was teeming with holidaymakers. But now, most of the grass has recovered - though some areas need re-seeding where the sub-surface infrastructure caused roots to completely dry out.

With the tourist season over, the water-slides are closed. But the smaller attractions are still open for the time being, and appear to be just about ticking-over on the limited Sunday afternoon local trade - the boating concession had a grand total of one customer in the two hours we spent in the park! Give it a few more weeks, and they'll all close their doors for the winter.

I didn't catch any trains today, but the steam railway is still running on a reduced timetable until November.

The park café was still doing a good trade though (and had even provided a live outdoor music performance - a young lady with a guitar and a lovely voice), and I can thoroughly recommend their coffee.
