Rocket Racing - Tri-City - Champion Example Route (Full Race)

Описание: A newly-minted Champion player was getting 2.20 on this map with a death, and asked for a better route. Tri-City is not a very complex map, so I thought I'd come up with a simple, safe route that a player can build on as their skills improve.

This route represents a path that a Champion player can take that tries to optimize speed and path with mechanics appropriate for their level. The skills you'll need for this route are: controlling drifts and drift releases, holding a drift while jumping, side flipping, continuing a drift after landing, keeping your nose up during Turbos through the air, and pitching your nose down after flying through the air to get back to the ground.

0:00 - Tri-City - Champion Route

0:12 - The Tunnel End and Post-Tunnel Curve
Aim to perform the maneuvers described in the Video Tips in a smooth, controlled manner. You're in Champion now, so these smoother, more controlled Drifts are the norm you'll be shooting for.

0:27 - Preparing for Your First Turbo
It's fine to line up and hit the Green Boost Arrows straight, as I do in this video, and work up to fancier moves. Advanced players will want to drift before getting each Green Boost Arrow, as well as adding Side Flips to capitalize on their hidden speed boosts!

0:51 - The First Lap Ending Route (Build Up Turbo)
Take this longer route and focus on Drifting to build up your Turbo meter. The catch-up mechanic and other factors will make your placement at the end of the first lap relatively unimportant. Our goal is to have one full extra Turbo at the end of Lap 3, so make sure you Drift in all the places you can!

1:44 - The Second (and Third) Lap Ending Route (Shortcut)
This is a substantial shortcut - it can save you nearly three seconds per lap if done correctly, so it's worth practicing! It's easy to mess up jumping over the rail, missing the green boost pad, or missing the checkpoint - it's okay! All of these mistakes are just stepping stones on your path to mastery. Advanced players should try Drifting Right before jumping the railing, and using a Side Flip when at maximum speed after Extending the Turbo.

2:44 - Use That Extra Turbo!
You skipped the first shortcut before the tunnel on every lap. You took the long way for the end of the first lap. You've been on top of your Drifting all race. You should have a full extra Turbo to use to clinch the end of the race. USE IT!!

The time on this route was sub 2.16. I'd suggest that a Champion player try to get at least 2.18 with this route, as Tri-City is not a complex track. There's plenty of room for improvement on this map as your skills improve. Practice optimizing your drifts and speed - you'll notice that in this video, we rarely spend much time at 570 kph. Use those Drift Boosts and hit the Green Boost Arrows to keep that speed up! Have fun driving around Tri-City.
