Femap 2022.1 makes hexahedral meshing easier than ever.
This release introduces automatic hex-dominant meshing of CAD geometry. Hex meshing has always been available, but the workflow required geometry to be subdivided into sweepable areas—an operation that can be quite time consuming. This extra effort can now be avoided with the new hex-dominant mesher, which uses a target mesh size and overall workflow similar to the Body Mesher introduced in Femap 2021.2. With this approach, a high-quality mesh is generated with the large majority of elements being hex elements, with the remaining volume for each part filled with a combination of wedge, pyramid, and tetrahedral elements. A new command to refine mapped hexahedral meshes is also introduced.
