LSU Gymnastics Begins SEC Play on the Road Against Georgia

Описание: No. 2 LSU is coming off its best road opener performance in program history, posting a 197.500 at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad on Saturday, a meet that featured three other teams ranked in the top five. The Tigers finished in a tie with defending national champion Oklahoma, with the tiebreaker ultimately going to the Sooners.

Now, LSU looks to carry that momentum to Georgia this Friday as it opens SEC play on the road against the Gym Dogs. Georgia climbed from No. 12 to No. 8 in the national rankings after defeating Ohio State, 197.000–196.250. The last time the Tigers faced Georgia, LSU set a program-record high score, defeating the Gym Dogs 198.575–197.175 in the final home meet of the 2025 season.

LSU head coach Jay Clark has strong ties to Georgia. He began his collegiate coaching career with the Gym Dogs as a recruiting coordinator from 1999–2009, while also serving as an assistant coach from 1999–2004 and associate head coach from 2005–09, a stretch that included Georgia’s NCAA-record five consecutive national titles. Clark later served as Georgia’s head coach from 2009–2012.

The Tigers will return home for their first home meet of the season on Friday, January 23, against Kentucky.
