In a surprising development, the National Unity Platform (NUP), under the leadership of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (commonly known as Bobi Wine), has officially unveiled new regional party headquarters for Eastern Uganda, located in Iganga District.
During the launch event—attended by party leaders, Members of Parliament, and enthusiastic supporters—Bobi Wine shared an anecdote illustrating the lengths to which the government monitors NUP’s activities. He revealed that, two days prior, he had deliberately informed MPs and party officials that the meeting would be held in Mbale on Monday. However, he had already planned for the actual event to take place in Iganga.
Bobi Wine requested the MPs to keep this information confidential, but the misinformation somehow reached President Museveni, who reportedly deployed security forces to Mbale in an attempt to sabotage the gathering. Despite this, the official event proceeded smoothly in Iganga as originally planned.
