Psalm 34 is a song of praise and testimony born out of David’s personal experience. It was composed after he feigned madness before Abimelech to escape danger and emerged safely. This psalm is therefore both a prayer of gratitude and a proclamation of trust in God.
David invites all believers to taste and see that the Lord is good. He testifies that God hears the cry of the righteous, delivers them from their troubles, and protects those who fear Him. This psalm teaches that the fear of the Lord leads to life, peace, and blessing.
Through poetic and wisdom-filled words, Psalm 34 reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted, that He delivers His servants, and that none who take refuge in Him will be put to shame.
