Possum skin cloaks map country, tell – and hold – stories.
The First Peoples of south-eastern Australian have been making them since time immemorial. But historic possum skin cloaks are exceedingly rare. So in 2019, when one of just a handful of 19th century cloaks was taken off display in the Melbourne Museum for restoration, it was time for new cloaks to be made and new stories to be told.
But how do you read a possum skin cloak?
