Josh Jones, now based at Elgin Community Fire Station, moved from Cambridgeshire last year to train as a firefighter after working as a personal trainer.
He shares how he settled into the life in the north, the support he received during training, and what he enjoys most about the role.
This story is part of our ongoing firefighter recruitment campaign, highlighting the different paths people take into the Service.
Applications for wholetime firefighter roles will open on Thursday, 14 August.
