Goshiki | Koi Fish variety Guide

Описание: Goshiki is a Japanese Koi variety. In this video you will learn all the details you have to know about the Goshiki variety.

I will make use of three different Goshiki in my bowl. All three are from the same breeders, but have a different style. A more traditional styled Goshiki and a more modern new style Goshiki. And a Ginrin Goshiki.

In this video I will explain you all characteristics and what you will have to know about the more traditional and modern Goshiki.

Background about the Goshiki Koi Fish variety
It appears that the first Goshiki was bread by crossing Narumi-Asagi and aka Bekko. Probably in early 1900’s. So about one century ago. It has a Kohaku like pattern. But then with a really strong reticulation of a black pattern throughout all of the scales. Which makes it a beautiful variety to view. Something completely different.

The original definition of Goshiki is ‘five colours’. I do personally not really see the five colours. But there are at least multiple colours visible and also in different intensities. Like the black ranges from light black to dark black. There is blueish colour visible, red and of course the white base.

There are many types of Goshiki, which I will also explain to you in this video. The Kuro Goshiki, Kindai Goshiki, Mameshibori Goshiki, Nezu Goshiki, Ginrin Goshiki and for example Goshiki Showa or other cross-bred varieties.
