Airing just before it was the first episode of a series that Jack Barry had been trying to get on TV since 1969. With categories selected by luck-based slot reels and contestant wagering determining the difficulty and value of the question.

The Joker's Wild debuted one half hour before The Price is Right, and presented here is the very first episode of the show, remastered in HD and with original vintage CBS commercials from 1972!

The show would enjoy a three year run on CBS, then be revived in daily syndication through 1986. The show has since been reboot twice, once in 1990-91 and again in the late 2010s with Snoop Dogg.

From December 2000 through August 2001, Game Show Network reran the show up through April 1973 after the original episodes were found during a search of the archives of WCBS-TV in New York. Prior to this, the first two years of the show had been presumed lost (the fate for the third show that debuted that date, Gambit)

While the Game Show Network copy of this episode has been available for years, the original master (and ticket plug) has not circulated - until now!
