I made a hot 5 medley of some of the songs from The amazing Antibalas album Hourglass. Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra is in my opinion the greatest AfroBeat band ever to play since Fela’s Africa 70 band.

Their music deepened my love for this style and introduced me to one of my favorite labels, Daptone Records! So I am teaching you how to play Antibalas on the Bass.

This is one of my favorite styles of Bass Playing. The main grooves are not SUPER difficult. The real challenge is hanging on to that groove for 7-10 minutes without changing a note or losing your place with all of that music happening around it. Polyrhythm at its finest.

You have to be very unselfish when playing this music and let your Bass line be part of the collective. All songs have tabs included. Once you learn the riff, just hold down the groove and you can play along to the tracks for HOURS of fun!
