"Unfinished Sympathy" is a song by the English trip hop group Massive Attack. It was released on 11 February 1991 as the second single from the band's first album, 'Blue Lines'. The song topped the Dutch Top 40 and was a top-20 hit on the singles charts of several countries, including Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The accompanying music video, directed by Baillie Walsh, was a single continuous shot of lead singer Shara Nelson walking through a Los Angeles neighbourhood, oblivious to her surroundings. The Heritage Orchestra is a British orchestra founded in 2004 under the artistic direction of Chris Wheeler. The orchestra perform a mix of styles and genres and are known as the premiere non-classical orchestra in the UK, with a catalogue of studio and performance projects in both experimental and popular music. In 2010, the Heritage Orchestra was nominated in the 9th Independent Music Awards and won the Contemporary Classical Album award for their performance of Gabriel Prokofiev's 'Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra' along with DJ Yoda. In 2017 the orchestra reached Number One in the UK Album Charts with BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong and their album 'Classic House'; the follow up album, 'Ibiza Classics', featured 'Unfinished Sympathy' and this arrangement draws on that classical fusion style. A piano part is included for authenticity but can be omitted if not available.
