"How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" is really important. I talk about it during almost every concert before I introduce it. It was a pivotal song in my life because it was the first hit that I ever wrote for anyone.

So in 1983 Laura Branigan released this beautiful version of it so that helped secure the end of rent checks bouncing. When you finally have a hit, the industry starts chasing you, calling you and you realize the entire industry revolves around the hit song. Hit songs are the life blood of every artist. So that was my first big one.

It's an incredible experience having 60 plus symphony orchestra musicians playing these beautiful arrangements of some of my favorite songs. It brings so much more dimension to songs I've recorded, some I've written, a lot of them hits of mine but that I've been performing all around the world for about 35 years. Now I get to experience the width and breadth of the emotional content of the songs, transformed through this amazing group of arrangements that is this symphonic orchestra album. It’s truly a dream come true for me.

The album, A Symphony of Hits, which includes How Am I Supposed To Live Without You, debuted number #1 on the Billboard Classical Album Chart in 2019.
