Lyric Pieces (Lyriske stykker) is a collection of 66 short pieces for solo piano written by Edvard Grieg. The composition of the pieces spanned more than three decades between 1867 and 1901 and they were published in 10 volumes.
Grieg was an absolute master of the miniature and his Lyric Pieces for piano are a treasure house of gems. The theme of the first piece in the set, Arietta, was one of the composer's favorite melodies.
