Egypt is my 68th country and new continent :)
I met my travelmate Ekaterina in Dahab and we started our 2-months trip around Egypt by hitchhiking.
I show how to travel on your own without any guides. Egypt has some specific sides for self-travelers. Especially police make troubles for independent travelers and is over-protective - in fact its spoils the trip and impression about the country.
We always stayed with local people which we found on CouchSurfing, coptic church or just friends of friends.
TRAVEL TRICK how to save money on entree fee - make a fake student ID (ISIC) and it will give you 50% discount. You can show it on your phone, no need to print.
I dont recommend female travelers to travel alone in Egypt.
