Man accused of shooting two Ohio officers in custody, shot himself, sheriff says

A man accused of shooting two police officers is now in police custody after he reportedly shot himself, the sheriff's office said.

Daveonte Dixon, charged with attempted murder and felony assault, was apprehended just outside of Columbus in Obetz in a joint operation between the Marshals and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said law enforcement went to an apartment on Thelma Drive to execute a search warrant. Deputies reportedly heard gunfire as they arrived. SWAT later made entry and found Dixon suffering from what the sheriff said appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No law enforcement fired their weapons.
