Gabby will be bringing Miss Hattie, a dog that is available currently for adoption. She will also be talking about the organization and all they do for the community.
They are hosting their 6th Annual Homeward Bound 5k and Gabby will tell us how to get involved and get your tickets.
About Gabby:
Volunteer, Coastal K9 German Shepherd Rescue
As an avid German Shepherd lover, it was no surprise that Gabby Kidd found her way to Coastal K9 German Shepherd Rescue San Diego.
She has been an active member of the Volunteer staff helping in the areas of Adoption Counseling, Event Planning, Marketing and Rescue Operations.
With a passion to help abandoned dogs and understand them better, Gabby is continually pursuing expanding her knowledge base of dog behavior and training through a variety of educational courses as well as the hands-on experience she gets with the Rescue each day.
In addition to her work with Rescue, Gabby works in San Diego’s Commercial Interior Design Industry and she enjoys spending time with her husband and their four dogs.
The Pulse is excited to welcome Jabez LeBret Chief of Schools, from the Sisu Academy!
Jabez will be talking to us about the organization and what they are doing for the community.
Sisu Academy:
Sisu Academy is the first tuition-free, all-girls boarding high school, with an embedded incubator fueled by entrepreneurs and seed capital for young women in San Diego County who are in need. This unique model results in an immersive learning environment that funds all operational costs. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit for public good.
Sisu is a four-grade high school that will enroll, educate and house a total of 350 young women from the local community. We provide an environment with wrap-around support services, healthy food, farming curriculum, project-based learning, career training education, social emotional learning, life skills development, service learning, STEAM education and counseling.
All of these support pillars are viewed through an entrepreneurial lens. Students have the opportunity to address social and business-related challenges that impact both the students and the community. We will teach students to embrace failure and resilience as a catalyst for growth and future success. These efforts will also provide the revenue-creating structures allowing Sisu to sustain its model.
About Jabez:
Jabez LeBret has been homeless, is a high school dropout, and was on a path to nowhere. After getting his GED, Jabez studied finance and marketing at Gonzaga University. He went on to become a financial analyst managing a multi-million P&L at Nordstrom. Jabez is now an international public speaker (1,100+ presentations), author, and Forbes Contributor.
He recently sold his award winning marketing agency to free up time to pursue his passion in education. Today Jabez is co-founder of Sisu Academy, a new education model that is going to reshape how we connect with students in the San Diego region and ultimately expanding beyond our city.
“The skills gap is widening due to a system crippled by lack of funding, rendering truly inspiring solutions cost prohibitive. These students need a place to learn, to fail, grow, build empathy, and cultivate the values of sisu. We will expand beyond the prevailing education models and create something new.
We choose bold education solutions because our students deserve a chance at success. Last I checked, bland solutions don’t create greatness.”
