You have done your homework on the benefits of becoming a real estate agent but you are wondering how to become a real estate agent in Brisbane, QLD?
Well you don’t need to go any further. Today in this video we’ll be looking at what it takes to become a real estate agent in QLD and the steps you should take to get there.
There are four different courses that will qualify you to work as a real estate agent in Queensland.
So the first entry level qualification that is required to work in the real estate industry in both sales and property management is the Real Estate Salesperson Registration Course.
There are 12 units of competency in the course that must be completed within a 12-month period. You must complete this course with a registered training organisation to be able to register with the Office of Fair Trading Queensland.
Once that’s done, you can work under the supervision of a licensed Queensland real estate agent, and begin to market and sell residential and commercial property.
If you want to establish a career in residential property management you’ll need a Residential Letting Agent Licence.
This course consists of 15 units of competency that will need to be completed within a 12-month period.
Once you’ve completed your course, you can apply to the Office of Fair Trading Queensland for a Residential Letting Agent Licence.
This licence qualifies you to work under the supervision of a licensed Queensland real estate agent to rent and manage units in building complexes on behalf of owners and body corporates.
However, this isn’t the full licensing course.
To work as a sole trader or run your own agency you’ll need to complete the Real Estate Agent Licence Course.
There are 19 units of competency that you need to complete within a 12-month period with a registered training organisation (RTO).
Once you’ve completed the course, you can apply to the Office of Fair Trading Queensland for your Real Estate Agent Licence.
However, you will not be entitled to work as an auctioneer in Queensland with this qualification.
To auction both residential and commercial property in QLD you need to complete the Real Estate Auctioneer Licence Course.
This course has a total of 10 units of competency that must be completed within a six-month period and must be undertaken with a registered training organisation.
Because these units form part of the Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice and Diploma of Property (Agency Management), they can also serve as a stepping stone towards higher academic qualifications.
Once you’ve completed the Queensland Real Estate Auctioneer Licence course, you can apply to the Office of Fair Trading Queensland for your Real Estate Auctioneer Licence.
