📽️ New Interpretation Sign Installed – Discover the Birds of Marton Mere
📝 The first of our new interpretation signs has landed – quite literally! This sign highlights just a handful of the many bird species visitors might see during a walk around Marton Mere Local Nature Reserve.
From reed-dwellers like the Reed Warbler to aerial specialists such as the Swift, the panel is designed to help visitors of all ages connect with the birdlife they can spot here – not just what the experts know is hiding in the reeds.
The signage is the result of a collaborative effort – based on ideas from Len Blacow, who has volunteered at the Mere for nearly 60 years. His vision was brought to life by Blackpool Council and Blackpool Zoo’s Native Species Team, who also funded the signs. Our volunteers, as always, gave their time and energy to install them.
This is the first of 20 signs being rolled out across the site – and we couldn’t be more excited to help visitors see what we see.
