Ardern sat down with Stuff for an extended interview as a raft of those more targeted changes now come into effect, with boosts to superannuation, Working For Families, main benefits, and the minimum wage.

The changes are worth up to $84 a week for some families. The Government says more than half of Kiwi families will receive an average of $20 a week, with 100,000 families with children better off by an average of $60 a week.

Ardern says these are more meaningful than National’s proposed tax cuts, which would save someone on the minimum wage just $2.15 a week, while giving a larger boost to those on higher incomes.
