Artificial islands are built due to limited spaces in the region ( Land Reclamation in Singapore & Netherlands ) or as tourist attractions ( The Universe Archipelago in Dubai, UAE ). Besides that, there's an artificial island project in Azerbaijan with tons of insane infrastructures. Khazar Islands will have everything that a city needs, schools, hospitals, shopping malls as well as a formula one circuit. Unfortunately, the project seems to be stalled and abandoned as there aren't any signs of progress after few years of construction. ( Lack of funds )
