The only video that will explain how the architecture of the fort helped to repel the British time after time.
How could 27,000 British (of which 12,000 landing forces) and 124 boats be defeated by 3,600 Spanish defense forces with 6 boats?
And this was just one of several failed British attacks at the same site.
What is missing from the above picture? The site geography, weapons, natural forces, tactics.
Ever since it was explained to me as a kid why spiral stars in castles always go one way, I have been intrigued with the cleverness of defensive designs.
The short defensive analysis of the seemingly higgledy-piggledy built fortress in the video is my first humble attempt to use what little I have learned about the clever construction of forts/castles. I hope doing so I make seeing and visiting such places just that little bit more curious, fun and insightful, just like knowing about the staircase did for me, as these kind of details are generally seldom shared or known.
Castillo San Felipe de Barajas. Find out:
Why are the walls sloped?
Why are the walls not straight and orderly?
Why are there wood steps?
Why are the passages / corridors straight and narrow?
Why did the British not win the battle of Cartagena?
Повторяем попытку...
