May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about mental health and behavioral health issues, and to reduceI stigma. The 2024 theme is "Take the Moment," which encourages open dialogue, empathy, understanding, and sharing resources to support individuals and families on their journey towards mental wellness. Our aim this month is to educate the public, fight stigma, provide support, advocate for policies that support mental illness, remove treatment barriers, celebrate recovery, and raise awareness of the impact of trauma.
Today, we have another esteemed guest, my colleague and ministry collaborator, Dr. Radisha Brown. Dr. Radisha Brown, known as America’s #1 Breakup Therapist, is renowned for her no-nonsense approach to helping individuals break unhealthy patterns. She is the owner of iThrive Therapy, best-selling author of "Girl, Get off the Couch," and podcast host. She has been seen on TV One’s hit crime show "For My Man," and regularly featured on WRDW’s Morning Mix and WJBF’s weekend news. She is an international speaker, 2x best-selling author, and trusted psychotherapist who gets results.
Her work is guided by faith and the simple idea that when we connect the dots between past experiences and present pain, we can position ourselves for a powerful future. Combining her knowledge of mental health as well as her Christian faith, she helps individuals break up with unhealthy patterns to create healthy relationships.
Today's podcast topic is "Breaking Generational Patterns: Navigating Intergenerational Trauma in Black Women."
