CANNA LILY Plant Care | How to Grow and Care Cannas | Propagation of Canna Lily

Описание: Today we will look into the Canna Plant or the canna lily plant and also talk on the propagation of canna lily plant or just called cannas.
Canna lily is a perennial plant with large green or maroon leaves and beautiful flowers of different colors like yellow, red, pink and orange. The leaves grow out of a stem in a long, narrow roll and then unfurl, similar to other common plants like the dieffenbachia.

Canna lilies are low maintenance and very easy to grow plants.

Now Let’s look at how to grow and care canna lily plants and also on propagation of canna lily plants.

1. Sunlight: They love sunlight and heat and they can easily tolerate full sunlight and grow well and produce maximum flowering in summer season. They also do well in partial shade.
2. Watering: Cannas like moist conditions and do well with good watering.
3. Soil: as usual they do well in a well draining soil with some 10 % compost in it and also they produce pups from within the soil easily and faster if the soil is well draining. These pups can be separated and grown as independent plants. That’s one way to propagate canna lily plant.
4. Humidity: They do well in humid conditions. Its best practice to place canna pots close to each other and also in close proximity with other plants.
5. Mulching in summer will also give best results with fresh looking leaves and flowers and overall a healthy looking plants.
6. Pests: Cannas are usually free of pests, but sometimes susceptible to fungus and also Slugs and snails may be the only troubling bugs.
7. Lastly Propagation of canna lily plants is done by seeds and bulbs and also by asexual method, that is by dividing the rhizome from the root ball. This infact is a source of little pups that pop out of the soil adjacent to the mother plant. You can separate these pups and plant them individually.
