The US and Israel launched coordinated missile attacks on Iran, targeting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control facilities, air defense capabilities, and other military sites.
Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks on US bases and allies in the region, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, causing some "minimal" damage to US installations.
The attacks have caused disruptions to oil markets and air travel, with oil tankers avoiding the Hormuz shipping strait and Gulf countries closing their airspace, forcing the cancelation of hundreds of flights.
