How much you should eat and tips for injury.
How important really is it for triathletes? What is the recommended guidelines for the average person and is it any different for athletes?
In this video we'll go over the science behind protein and how much protein a triathlete should eat a day.
When we swim, bike and run we put our body under a lot of stress. We'll talk about protein in injury and whether we can do anything to reduce the impact that injury has on us.
Plus I'll give you a helpful rhyme for any vegetarians or vegans about protein intake. If you combine those elements in your meals you're likely to cover the essential amino acids I talk about in this video, and ensure you're getting quality protein in your diet.
*Anything I mention about grams per kilogram is to do with YOUR body weight. As an example, if your body weight is 70kg, then 1.2 grams per kilogram in protein = 84g.*
If you're considering a supplement like a protein shake please look to buy it from a reputable company. If you're involved in any competitive sport where you may be drug tested then you should consider buying from a company that has their product batch tested through a program like informed sport. This does not remove the risk of contamination and accidental doping but minimises it.
