An introduction to the 6 part series of using the Sensel Morph with Cycling '74 Max to create a treasure trove of artistic possibility.
The Series:
01 - Finger Buffers: • 01 - Finger Buffers. Max & Morph: Multitouch A simple granular patch that scans through a buffer of audio becomes a complex sound instrument when multiple fingers are applied.
02 - Contacts to MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE): • 02 - Contacts to MIDI Polyphonic Expressio... What if you want a cool new way to play a software synth?
03 - Drawing Contacts and Labels in Jitter: • 03 - Drawing Contacts and Labels in Jitter... What about JItter? This patch illustrates how to draw circles and add labels in a 3D scene
04 - Turntable Scratch Emulation: • 04 - Turntable Scratch Emulation. Max & Mo... Learn to use the full surface to create a control that is similar to turntable scratching.
05 - Multitouch from MIDI (MPE): • 05 - Multitouch from MIDI (MPE). Max & Mor... The “sensel” object has great data, but it is a bit slow in its current form, and locks out MIDI usage with other overlays. If you only need the basics of location and pressure, this is a great way to do it.
06 - The Song Explorer (MPE to Multitouch): • 06 - The Song Explorer (MPE to Multitouch)... We apply the example from #5 and create a novel interface for remixing a song.
Max patches will be going up to the Max examples repo https://github.com/sensel/C74-Max-Exa...
The [sensel] object in @Cycling74 Max gives you all the raw contact data you could wish for. This really opens up the possibilities of working with digital media. You can use this raw data to carve out your own region-based interface, like we did with the arduino-based DMX lighting controller and Envelop spatial sound controller. You can also use it to create music or video with sculpting and stroking gestures over the full surface of the Morph. We’ll get into how this works, how we can use these gestures, and some of the interesting consequences of this style.
FingerBuffers - a simple granular patch that scans through a buffer of audio becomes a complex sound instrument when multiple fingers are applied.
Contacts To MPE - what if you want a cool new way to play a software synth?
Drawing Contacts - What about JItter? This patch illustrates how to draw circles and add labels in a 3D scene
Scratch - use full surface to create a control that is somewhat similar to turntable scratching.
MPE as multitouch - the “sensel” object has great info, but it is a bit slow in its current form, and locks out MIDI usage with other overlays. If you only need the basics of location and pressure, this is a great way to do it.
