Описание: This is a guitar recording test:
Is the sound of re-amped guitar identical to the amp recording? When the only thing that changes is if guitar is recorded live or re-amped, is there a difference?

Mr Antti Hyyrynen of Stam1na playing guitar on this test to find out the possible differences on not only the sound but also energy when re-mping or recording guitar without re-amping.

We used Marshall JCM800 w/TubeTone.ru Platinum+ mod head with Boss SD-1 pedal on left speaker and Peavey 5150 w/TubeTone.ru Platinum+ mod head on right speaker. Each speaker has one rhythm guitar.

Guitars were recorded using Shure SM58 mic with grill removed. Micrphone cable, instrument cables and speaker cable were all Vovox cables.

All versions were recorded, mixed and mastered using identical settings on amps, mixing console and outboard gear.

As drums were originally recorded on tape, we transferred them to computer for Version 1 and Version 2. The last tape version has all instruments recorded to tape to compare if there is any difference in both sound and especially energy.

“As pretty much expected on tape version the stereo image sounds wider and thicker in a good way, as if the “energy of the guitar” widens more to the sides while filling the center as well. In specific genre with certain dynamic expectations analog is definitely the more ‘organic’ option. It’s like watching a movie shot on film; gradient is smoother, scenery richer and in everything is literally more realistic”.

We recommend listening not with mobile phone or laptop speakers but with proper home stereo, studio speakers or headphones to hear the small nuances.
