A Rhino for £5.99?! Today I'm heading back in time to White Dwarf issue 168, released in December 1993 when Warhammer 40000 2nd edition was in its infancy, and Games Workshop was in what some considered to be a Golden era.

This month saw the release of the Warhammer Armies: Skaven book for Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and for 40K we had Space Marine Assault Squads with Jumpacks, metal Gretchin and some Goff Orks, as well as rules for Blood Angels Death Company.

This is also a very important issue for me, as it was the first ever issue of White Dwarf that I bought, and it was this issue that got me hooked and I haven't looked back since. I read this magazine cover to cover and ended up buying my first miniature not long after.

It's also the reason I've picked this issue as the first episode in the 'Retro Read Through' series, where I'll be taking a look at lots of old White Dwarf issues as well as old Codex books, Army Books, older rulebooks and sourcebooks as well as various other retro publications like the Space Marine Collectors Guide etc.
