Two reels by fiddler and composer Sean Ryan (1919-1985). Abbeyleix is a town in county Laois, Ireland, founded on a monastery from the 12th century. Laois and leix are both pronounced "Leesh." It's a cool reel that alternates between major and dorian modes. Cedars of Lebanon was named by one of Ryan's friends, Father Kelly, and I can't imagine why he gave it that name. But it's a great tune, and has really grown on me over the year since I learned it.
Both of these reels employ the low A quite a bit, which is characteristic of Sean Ryan tunes.
