This song annoys me. And I don't mean the fact that it's a bunch of pre-pubescent males performing it. I like Nightmare just fine. But their depiction of the rockstar fantasy is just unrepresentative of what you should want to be a rockstar *for*. He mentions going to a different city every night, but plays it off more like his travel history would be a bragging rights list rather than an opportunity to go somewhere new every day. Yes, the sex, drugs and rock and roll are all very nice, but if you focus on those as to why you'd want to join this lifestyle, you're going to look very shallow.
I didn't keep playing Rock Band because I felt it helped sooth my fragile ego. I did it because of the connection I felt to the music. Whatever. Fuck this song.
