Welcome back to the Puritas Springs Software channel! In this video—our 81st in the FAQ series—Ernie Zore and Larry Housel walk you through the newly revised Form 706 (U.S. Estate Tax Return) application. After several years without major changes, the 2025 update brings a fresh look and key improvements designed to make your work faster and more intuitive.

What’s New in Form 706 (P706_25)

Ribbon Interface. The old menu system and tree view have been replaced with a modern ribbon layout, similar to Microsoft Word. Commands are easier to find, better organized, and take up less screen space—especially helpful for smaller displays.

Dynamic Commands. Items like Paging and Override appear only when relevant, reducing clutter.

Display Tab. Quickly jump to any of the 20+ Schedules and 100+ pages without scrolling through long lists.

File Ribbon Enhancements. Convenient access to your most recently opened files.


Worksheets & Forms

Kin Worksheet. Enter beneficiary info once and have it flow automatically into other worksheets.

Beneficiary/Cotenant Worksheet. Add, copy, paste, or clear entries easily, plus assign parties with checkboxes.

Asset/Debt Worksheet. Link assets to schedules, assign cotenants, and categorize expenses with specialized controls.

Automatic Completion. Many schedules, including Schedule A, fill in automatically once worksheets are complete.


Time-Saving Features

Find Function. Use Ctrl +F to search through long worksheets quickly.

Color-Coded Fields:

White = user entry

Light blue = system-completed but overrideable

Yellow/amber = system-completed, not overrideable


Support & Printing

Help Ribbon. Access the manual, this video, and our customized AI Assistant for program-specific answers.

Print-Shop Perfect Output. Whether printing one form or an entire return, the software formats documents exactly as the IRS requires, switching seamlessly between portrait and landscape.
