Entitled Woman Arrested for Stealing $165 in Items from Hoboken ShopRite

Описание: Around 3:33 PM on March 6, 2024, Officers Samuel Flores and Dylan Archilla with the Hoboken Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting at ShopRite on 900 Madison Street. They entered the store around 3:40 PM and walked upstairs to the loss prevention office. In the loss prevention office, they met with the loss prevention officer as well as the alleged shoplifter, who was identified as 30-year-old Shaquilla.

The loss prevention officer informed Officer Archilla that he saw the woman enter the store around 1:00 PM and later attempt to go through self-checkout without paying for $165.00 worth of items. Some of the other items were paid for. Officer Flores placed Shaquilla under arrest for shoplifting. She was handcuffed and escorted to the patrol car.

Officer Archilla retrieved the items that she had paid for and they were placed into a police cr. Shaquilla was transported to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. At police HQ, she was searched in more detail. Detective Milne finger printed and photographed her. Shaquilla was found to have no outstanding warrants. She was subsequently charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(1) and released pending her court appearance.

The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
