Royal Albatross ~ Atawhai 2020 Season Tribute & Highlights ~ From Hatch To Fledge 💕 💕 Music 9.22.20

Описание: As the season comes to an end, we look back over the precious moments of our wonderful albatross family starring OGK, YRK and little Pippa Atawhai ♥♥ It has been such a privilege & honor for me to cover this nest & share in this remarkable season - watching Atawhai from hatch to fledge and grow up into the most extraordinary young albatross right before our eyes! Magnificent!!

We say our farewells to beautiful Atawhai, who left to fulfill her destiny on September 16th 2020 at 230 days old. She captured all our hearts & brought us great joy & happiness. From the moment she began pipping within the egg, she was given an affectionate nickname of "Pippa". She would later be given her official Maori name Atawhai meaning kindness. 💗

The rangers would come twice a day in the beginning & put her in a little bag to weigh her. And later, they would put her in a basket as she grew bigger. Atawhai would grow strong under the excellent parentage of OGK & YRK, both dedicated & experienced parents. YRK would singlehandedly take care of Atawhai when OGK went missing for a month. When he returned injured, it brought tears to my eyes to see his love & devotion in making this long journey back home to feed his daughter in spite of his obvious pain & injury. Indeed, both OGK & YRK deserve to honored as Dad of the Year and Mom of the Year! 👍🌷

Atawhai was an explorer early on & she loved to walk around & build her play nests. She entertained herself & had several friends with the bunnies, herons, gulls, a little penguin and a seal pup all wanting to visit her. She was a social butterfly - everyone loved her! ♥
Atawhai would spend her days doing her wing exercises, getting stronger & more confident. She would squeal with joy & excitement each time she would flap her wings & take little hops. She would squeal at mealtimes begging Mom & Dad for more delicious squid shakes! She explored the camera & ventured down the hill to see her first albie friend - Hcam chick! She loved going down to visit him! 💕

Atawhai matured & began to do her first grown up skycalls sounding very much like OGK. As her wingercising became more controlled, she was able to get lift and hover above the ground with her paddles in the air. What a feeling of freedom it must have given her. 🌺

But on September 16th 2020, destiny knocked at her door & she answered the call. Atawhai looked out over the water & said her goodbyes - turning and walking away until she disappeared from our sight. She embarked upon a journey that will take her around the world & back again. 🌸💗

I would like to thank all the viewers for sharing in her life with me! And special thanks to the New Zealand Department of Conservation and the rangers for all their hard work & dedication taking care of the albatross. And a huge thank you to Cornell Labs for providing the livestream for us to watch this wonderful family! You all have made this a season to remember!! 💕💕
