In this inspiring session, Martin Hill and Barbara Loessl from Murdoch University, WA, Australia, School of Nursing, showcase how they developed and actively use the university’s cutting-edge Digital Immersive Lab (DigiLab), an innovative space designed to transform learning through fully immersive and interactive experiences.

The DigiLab gives students a unique, hands-on approach to mastering nursing bioscience, bringing complex concepts to life through Virtual Reality (VR) and other immersive technologies.

About the Speakers:

Martin Hill
A learning technologist specializing in immersive, collaborative, hybrid and active learning technologies. With over 30 years of experience managing campus-wide lecture and clinical capture systems, Martin now leads the VR and Mixed Reality–rich Digital Immersive Lab at Murdoch University.

Barbara Loessl
A lecturer in biosciences with over 12 years of university teaching experience, specializing in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Passionate about experiential learning, Barbara designs interactive activities, from puzzles and role plays to organ dissections, lab experiments, and VR simulations, to engage diverse learning styles and foster peer teaching. Her research focuses on integrating VR simulation in nursing education.
