Proper maintenance of Sonnax reamers is the best way to ensure their consistent performance and long life. Most important is removing the aluminum build-up that occurs along cutting edges every time a reamer is used. Debris may not always be present in large amounts and may be very hard to see, but over time it will accumulate. Too much will make it difficult or impossible for the tool to cut correctly.
Checking regularly for build-up and cleaning it off can be done quickly and easily right at the bench. In this video, you'll learn how to:
• Identify aluminum build-up with an eye loupe or penny
• Remove build-up with a fine-grit diamond honing tool such as the Sonnax EZ-LAP-HONE
• Clean and store reamers to prevent dulling or damaging cutting edges
