Binns Track | Section 4 | Davenport Ranges, NT

Описание: Whilst we were staying at Devils Marbles Hotel in Wauchope we decided to do the Davenport Ranges 4WD track. This track is Section 4 of The Binns Track.

OMG, we did not expect it to take this long!

We left Devils Marbles Hotel and travelled up to Bonney Well we we entered the track. We travelled along Kurundi Road, through Kurundi Station, and took the turnoff to Whistleduck Creek. Here we also visited Irrmwend Rockhole. Then we back tracked to Kurundi Road. We continued toward Epenarra and took the turnoff to Old Police Station Waterhole. We thought we could continue on the access road and rejoin Kurundi Road on the other side of the waterhole but this was not the case. Since the track was taking much longer than we anticipated we decided we did not have time to walk around to the Old Police Station Ruins. This was unfortunate. After we made it back to Kurundi Road we decided to turn right and continue the Binns track around past the old ruins of the Hatches Creek Mine. This was a 4WD track, whereas the part of the track we had already done was accessible by 2WD.

This 4WD track was much worse than the completed 2WD section. We were driving into the sun which wasn’t great and we were so over the track all we wanted to do was get back to our cabin at Devils Marbles Hotel.

We made it back to Stuart Highway before dark and stopped in at Wycliffe Well at the United Service Station. Here there was a UFO display, themed shop, and a Tourist Park.

I guess we were disappointed with the day because our research said how beautiful the ranges were but we found them not spectacular and very underwhelming. We also did not see the Rockpools from a range. The internet said we would see them looking like a string of pearls.
