Xizhou Ancient Town sits on the western shore of Erhai Lake in Dali, Yunnan. It is one of the best-preserved Bai ethnic towns in the region. Walking through the town, visitors see traditional Bai architecture with grey tile roofs, white walls, and decorative screens painted with colorful patterns. Xizhou was once an important trading center along the Tea Horse Road, and many old courtyards still reflect that history. In the morning, rice fields stretch across the countryside while local shops sell the famous Xizhou baba, a traditional baked snack. Compared with the busy streets of Dali Old Town, Xizhou feels quieter and closer to everyday village life.
