STORYLINE
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II took French President Nicolas Sarkozy on a tour of Windsor Castle on Wednesday - part of the events set down for his two-day state visit to the UK.
The French president - accompanied by his wife, the model-turned-singer Carla Bruni-Sarkozy - viewed art and other treasures as the Queen and her husband Prince Philip showed the couple around a room of the castle.
Sarkozy is making the first state visit to Britain by a French president in 12 years.
During the 36-hour trip he will be a guest of the queen at Windsor Castle, hold talks with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and address members of both Houses of Parliament.
Sarkozy is seeking to demonstrate that, under his leadership, France is putting aside differences over the 2003 Iraq war and revitalising relations with both the UK and the United States.
