Chapter 22 Lecture Video Part 2
Section 22.5 The Claisen Reaction: Predict the products for the Claisen reaction of an ester to form a β-keto ester. Draw the mechanism for the Claisen reaction of an ester to form a β-keto ester.
Section 22.6 The Crossed Claisen and Related Reactions: Predict the products of a crossed Claisen reaction. Determine what esters are needed to produce a particular Claisen product.
Section 22.7 The Dieckmann Reaction: Predict the products in the Dieckmann Reaction when a 1,6-diester or 1,7-diester is used.
Section 22.8 The Michael Reaction: Predict the products of enolate addition to an unsaturated carbonyl compound (as in the Michael reaction.) Determine what starting materials are needed to form a particular product using the Michael reaction.
Section 22.9 The Robinson Annulation: Predict the products of a Robinson annulation.
These are the lectures that I use in my Organic Chemistry II course. The textbook I use is Smith, Janice "Organic Chemistry", McGraw Hill, 6th Ed., 2020, ISBN13: 9781260119107. Some images used in this video come from that textbook.
