After a few years of absence from the DAB band in the UK, my favourite station Birdsong is back. It is being transmitted from the Trial Portsmouth multiplex which is in the city 20 miles away from my location. The transmitter power of the multiplex is low power, so hopefully they will increase it one day to avoid the constant signal dropouts I get regularly. Also hoping Birdsong goes back to the national multiplex so I can get a full signal of it daily.
Birdsong was used for UK station Classic FM for tests prior to the opening of the station back in 1992. It has also been used on UK DAB for a number of stations prior to their openings most commonly in the mid 2000s. I have also been informed that Birdsong has also been used for radio testing purposes in Australia.
Received in Southampton, UK with a Yamaha TD-500 connected to an external antenna & internal signal booster.
