Описание: I fished this river several times in the past. I would call this river one of the most beautiful rivers all over New Zealand. Fishing pressure increased a lot here as well as all over the country, despite or may-be because of the newly established ballot system. However, by hiking longer distances it is possible to find fish, behaving like wild fish.
It is located in Fjordland, the most beautiful National Park in New Zealand. Here, down south, the weather can be extremly wet, as Fjordland is along the very wet New Zealand West Coast.
Fish are swimming in high numbers in the river, as it is discharging into an huge lake. Fish are migrating from the lake upstream all the way to the headwaters. Rainbow and brown-trout are living in high numbers in the lake as well as in the river. For this reason, fishing along the lakes shore and the rivermouth are very rewarding as well.
The water is crystal clear, the vegetation and the steep mountains of fjordland make this place a paradise. A backcountry hut is very close to the lakes shore, not too far from the river and makes staying overnight very easy. A long DOC trapping track provides very easy access upstream.
