Applying a scratch coat over a chimney using Type-S mortar as the stucco.
For a smaller job we are using a premix type s mortar as the stucco. This is a two coat process which is going to have the initial scratch coat and final smooth coat. Wait 48 hours between the scratch coat and finish coat or what others may call a brown coat depending on whether that's your final coat or third coat which would be your color coat. Suggestion is to wait 60 days before painting if you don't use a color.
