Berejiklian urges other states not to punish those areas in NSW unaffected by new COVID cluster

Premier Gladys Berejiklian is calling on state leaders across the country to consider the sacrifices people have made over the course of the pandemic in relation to lockdowns when considering their response to the Northern Beaches COVID-19 outbreak.
She confirmed 10 new cases of the virus were confirmed overnight – taking the total to 28 cases with all but one linked to the Northern Beaches cluster.
The premier said while she would also take precautions in the case of a hotspot in another state, authorities should consider families that had been separated for months due to border closures.
“We just ask everybody to consider that and to have a response which is measured compared to what’s going on in NSW,” she said.
Ms Berejiklian also urged all Greater Sydney residents to be on high alert, pleading with them to wear a mask for every day activities – including shopping, taking public transport and entering places of worship.
“We know where the high risk activities are, we know what the high risk events are and we need people to respond accordingly,” she said.
