Keerimalai (meaning "mongoose hill") in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, is famous for its sacred water spring and the adjacent Naguleswaram Kovil, one of the sacred Pancha Ishwarams (shrines dedicated to Shiva). The spring is believed to have healing properties and is linked to a legend about a sage cursed with a mongoose-like face, who was cured after bathing in the waters. The temple is said to have been established by the same sage in gratitude for the healing waters.
