Stig Blomqvist, surely one of the most popular Rally drivers ever! Saab Legend and went on to be an Audi Sport Legend along with taking the World Rally Drivers Championship in 1984 with five victories throughout the season.
Five times is also the number of the International Rally of Sweden victories he had, three with Saab in 1973, 77 and 79, and two with Audi in 1984, his Championship winning year and this one in 1982 under the Audi Sport Sweden banner.
The 1982 International Rally of Sweden was more like a toboggan run, with incredible snowbanks, that year. Stig, of course, mastered it against fierce competition, particularly a charging Ari Vatanen.
Who can remember Stig at the Brands Hatch British Rallycross Grand Prix? Fantastic event in December, great memories indeed! He was pretty good at that, as well!!
