President Trump said Saturday that the US is “not afraid of boots on the ground” in Venezuela, floating the possibility of further US military deployments in the country.
“We’re not afraid of boots on the ground if we have to,” he said. “But we’re gonna make sure that that country is run properly. We’re not doing this in vain.”
Asked about more long-term military intervention, Trump downplayed the potential US footprint in the country by saying that his country will have a small “presence in Venezuela as it pertains to oil”.
