Bassolino draws from the golden era of Italian film and cult soundtracks of the seventies: dramatic grooves, orchestral arrangements, funk breaks, and warm analog keys. But Bassolino isn’t looking to recreate the past.
He wants to recontextualize it.
For him, nostalgia isn’t merely aesthetic — it carries an ideology.
His music lives at the crossroads of jazz, funk, electronic jazz, disco, soul, and the Italian pop tradition — a blend that comes vividly to life on his 2024 album, Città Futura.
Today, Bassolino also works on an international stage — performing, among others, with singer LNDFK at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Yet, he always finds his way back home.
Bassolino says: “I don’t want to leave this place. My music is recognized as Neapolitan — and that means the world to me.”

VPRO Aan Zee, several artists performed exclusive live sessions at Vlieland’s Havenplein on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August during Into The Great Wide Open 2025.
