In May 2020, RLUK launched a manifesto for the digital shift in research libraries. The manifesto was created by RLUK’s digital shift working group and provided a ten year vision for the research library of the future, an overview of how this vision might be shaped by the digital shift, and the tangible steps that the research library community might take to enable its realisation.
This event marks the the mid-point of that ten year vision, and we were pleased to have a keynote talk by Dr Torsten Reimer, University Librarian and Dean of the University Library at the University of Chicago, and the first chair of RLUK's Digital Shift Working Group.
The event also featured case studies on skills by Dan Pullinger (University of Leeds),
spaces by Sarah Molloy (Queen Mary University of London) and scholarship by Laura Smith Brown (University of Liverpool).
William Nixon, Deputy Executive Director of RLUK, shared findings from the Digital Shift Maturity Survey, undertaken in 2023 to gauge progress in digital transformation across RLUK member libraries.
The event was chaired by Claire Knowles (University of Leeds) and Tom Shaw (Kings College London).
